With the GARMIN GPS 76 the new generation of GARMIN Marine- navigation instruments comes into the sailor`s hands. 

In 2008 replaced by the Garmin GPS 72

The GPS 76 ,as a perfect marine hendheld instrument, is the follower of the GARMIN GPS 48 und GPS 12 XL . The GPSMAP 76 is the follower of the Garmin GPS 12 Map.

A visible improvement is the display with a much higher resolution than before (180x240 pixels and a four level greyscale in comparison to the GPS 48 and GPS 12 XL, which have only 64 x 100 pixels and a two level greyscale).

GPS 76 not only is waterproof, but also floatable; it has all important acoustic alarm functiones, e.g. MOB, anchor, proximity.

Many new functions enormously enlarge the user`s possibilities.

There is an inbuilt data memory of 1 MByte POIs (Points of Interest). Preloaded data of worldwide cities bigger than 200.000 inhabitants and navaids like lights or buoys.

It operates 16 hours with only two Mignon - batteries. 
There are connections for an external active antenna and power supply.

The special functiones of the GPS 76:
- 1 MByte memory capacity for Points of Interest (POIs).
- Marine-data base- Europe, including cities and important nautical marks.

The special functiones of the GPSMAP 76:
- GPSMAP 76 - 8 MByte memory capacity for MapSource CD.
- Marine-data base- Europe, including cities and important nautical marks.
- Detailed international base map with main roads / Rivers / lakes

GPSMAP 76 and GPS 76 functiones:
- Built-in Trip-Computer with odometer, stopwatch, average data, times and speeds.

- Saves 500 waypoints and 50 routes with up to 49 waypoints each.

- Akoustic alarm functiones: cross track error, proximity waypoint, arrival, anchor drag, depths, shallows.

- The innovative TracBack- function automatically records the waypoints to retrace the path of travel to the starting point safe and fast.

Receiver: PhaseTrac12™: 12 channell-parallel receiver, DGPS- enabled, receives and uses continuously up to 12 satellites to calculate the position. 

WAAS & EGNOS enabled for high accuracy.
