Overview of the different features:
Meridian Gold :16 MB european built-in mapping database. Optional BlueNav Sea charts or MapSend Streets Street maps.

Meridian Platinum :16 MB european built-in mapping database, Fluxgate-compass, temperature, Barometer and Barograph check barometric pressure and ambient temperature, the compass can orient the map. Optional BlueNav Sea charts or MapSend Streets Street maps.

Meridian Marine :16 MB european built-in mapping database. Optional BlueNav Sea charts or MapSend Streets Street maps.

Meridian Color :16 MB european built-in mapping data base, 16-colour display. Optional BlueNav Sea charts or MapSend Streets Street maps.

General features:
The new Meridian GPS series has a high resolution grayscale display with 120 x 160 pixels. So one can perfecty read the display within all weather conditions. It provides an easy operation and you almost never need a manual.

The keys ESC, NAV, GOTO, PWR, MENU, ENTER, IN and OUT provide an easy access to various functions. There is also an integrated Help database.

Choose from76 +1 reference frames including Latitude/Longitude, UTM, OSGB, MGRS, french, swedish, german, swiss or irish Grid.

Street navigation
The instruments Meridian Gold, Platinum and Color include a general chart of europe with highways, airports, railways, waterways and other POI ‘s (Points Of Interest).
The scale is adjustable with the IN and OUT keys. The waypoints can be faded in and out on the maps. With the optional DataSend Europe CD-ROM further details of the map can be transferred to the GPS . Therefore one needs  SD memory cards with a capacity of 8 MB, 16MB, 32 MB or 64 MB . The data can be chosen at the PC (the PC calculates the memory space you need) and transferred to the GPS Meridian.
The Base map includes the cross country roads of Europe (germany, austria, swizzerland, danmark, south of sweden, netherlands, belgium, luxembourg, great britain, france, portugal, spain, italy).

You are not able to delete or overwrite the disc space.

The data of the MapSend CD Europe can be loadad on the SD-memory cards. The rectangular sectors can be choosen on your demand. Then streets up to residential areas are provided. 
For faster programming we recommend the USB - memory card - Programmer (e.g. 1 MB in 10 seconds). It is compatible to Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.

The Meridian Marine provides a BaseMapLand of Europe. It includes coastal cities, navaids and lights as well as other POI (Points Of Interest). The map scale is adjustable with the IN and OUT keys. The waypoints can be faded in and out in the map. 

Interfaces
Certainly the instruments of the Meridian-series  have a connection to the outer world. The NMEA 0183 Interface (Version 1.5 and 2.1) connects the GPS with plotters, radar systems, PC‘s or Autopilots. For this a data cable is available. With the interface additional and more detailed information from the optional software MapSend Europe can be loaded from your PC to the GPS-receiver. As an additional data entry the SporTrak  also has a  RTCM 104 Interface (for DGPS). 

Technical data
The Position is calculated once per second and the maximum velocity is 1.530 km/h. The position is calculated about one second after start, with a warm start the calculation takes about 15 sec. 
- When the SA-Code is not in use, the horizontal accuracy is about 7 m RMS. 
- Two 2 AA-Batteries provide up to 14 hours of continous use (without illumination). Optional a 12 V cable is available. 
- Operating temperature: -10 °C to +60 °C.

You can load almost as much waypoints, routes and tracks as you like on your SD- memory card an load it again in the GPS if required.
