Mastervolt Mass Combi
Batterie charger and inverter combination
This new Mastervolt product is the ultimate solution for providing
AC and/or DC power on locations without (permanent) utility power connection.
In this product description we highlight the enormous value of the Mass
Combi for marine applications. The compact size and limited weight makes
the Combi suitable for stowing away in the smallest corner.
12V and 24V charger up to 200A with 2000VA and 4000VA
inverter.
The Mass Combi is the energetic heart of the AC shore power system,
the AC on board power system and the battery charging system. The Mass
Combi is supplied with a practical DC monitoring panel including a remote
on/off switch. An AC control panel and an extended digital monitoring panel,
the Masterlink/MICC, are available as an option.
Die Vorteile
- Switch mode technology
- Extremely Compact
- Light Weight
- Negligible no load drain
- Pure sine wave inverter
- 3-stage battery charger
- comprehensive remote monitoring as standard
- Automatic ground relay
The Mass Combi has 4 key functions:
1) The sine wave inverter delivers a continuous 230V AC power, if required,
of 2 kW from a 12/24V battery. With a peak load capability of 4 kW the
inverter is extremely powerful and capable of starting up inductive loads
of any kind. The output waveform remains sine wave even during overload
conditions, enabling sensitive, electronically controlled devices like
washing machines, dishwashers and microwaves, to operate smoothly.
2) The 3-stage battery charger recharges the battery when shore or generator
power is available in a fast and reliable way. Due to the applied technological
concept, the battery charger operates trouble free with most generators,
disregarding the quality of the waveform. The charger is fitted with a
main output for the service battery and a second output for the starter
battery of 5A.
3) The rugged built-in transfer switches (in fact a built-in Masterswitch)
allows the unit to operate a total load of maximum 15 kVA.
4) An important feature that makes the Mass Combi unique, is the Power
Support function that allows extended AC loads to be utilized on board,
even when limited shore power is available.
A standardly supplied DC monitor together with a wide choice of optional
remote monitoring and control panels make it complete.
Power Support© function
It is a great enhancement to onboard comfort when all AC applications
and 12 or 24V appliances can be used. In earlier days a limited shore power
facility would limit the use of electrical equipment. The Power Support©
feature has, in combination with the Power Sharing© function, overcome
this limitation.
The Power Sharing© function is the adjustment of the Mass Combi
to the available shore power amperage of e.g. 6 or 10A. This can be done
by adjusting an internal dipswitch or by using the Masterlink/APC or Masterlink/
MICC panels that are fitted with membrane switches. As a result of the
setting, the incoming shore power will be shared automatically between
the charger, providing DC power, and the AC power to operate 230V appliances.
Result: the share power breaker will not trip, not even during periods
of overload.
The Power Support© feature allows loads exceeding the shore power
connection amperage, to run smoothly without tripping the shore power fuse.
Maximum comfort onboard is now guaranteed!
Power extension
If 2 kW inverter power is not sufficient a second Mass Combi can be
installed in parallel, resulting in a continuous inverter power rating
of 4 kW cont. and 8 kW peak power capability. The parallel configuration
offers a fail safe : in the event of an inverter failure, the second unit
will take over. Of course, the battery capacity has to be enlarged in such
cases.
Energy Management & System Control
The Mass Combi is fitted with an extended read-out and diagnostics
panel at the front of the unit. We offer the following choice of remote
panels:
| The Masterlink/ICC comes as standard
together with 6 mtr cable plus plug, offering all relevant DC system information,
inverter diagnostics and remote on/off and ‘inverter only’ switching. |
 |
| The Masterlink/ACP monitoring panel is
offered as an option and can be used to select the appropriate Power Sharing©
mode. |
 |
- The comprehensive microprocessor based Masterlink/MICC
combines immediate system information with very useful power system information
such as battery capacity ‘remaining’ read-out, Ah capacity left and time
remaining and content information in %. In addition, this monitor stores
historical information such as the number of charge/discharge cycles, the
average depth of discharge etc.
Applied technology
Mastervolt is utilizing its famous switchmode technology which has
been successfully applied for many years in the stand alone Mass inverter
and charger series.
Result: a compact and light weight, easy to install and super quiet
onboard power centre.
Other important features are the low no-load power consumption (0.5W
at stand-by mode, 5.5W in ‘on’ position) and inverter/ battery charger
efficiency.
The Mass Combi range complies with all international standards e.g.
CE, E4 and ABYC and is manufactured in an ISO 9000-2001 certified environment.
